Jewellery making challenges for 2020

Taking part in a jewellery making challenge can be a really great way to

  • challenge yourself

  • try something new

  • be consistent with your making

  • work to a theme

There are lots of free jewellery challenges out there starting in 2020 so how do you choose which one/s to do?

Think about what will motivate you and what you want to learn. Also, consider how much time you can devote to the challenge. You don't want to take on more than you can achieve as it just makes you feel worse if you don't achieve it.

Here are some that you can join. If you know of any others please do let me know and I will add them here. My email address is anna@jewelleryschoolscotland.co.uk

Ring a month challenge 2020

Ring a Month

I started the ring a month challenge in January 2019 and it will be continuing in 2020.

The challenge is to make and share one ring a month. You can make a ring from any material you like. There is an optional theme each month and this alternates between a technical jewellery making theme e.g. texture, colour and a more thematic theme e.g. creatures, music and lyrics.

The challenge is run on Facebook and Instagram so you can choose to join in on one our both.

Design Earrings Every Day

Each day in 2020 draw, design or create a pair of earrings.

'This challenge is meant to push each of us to use up bits and bobs, odds and sods that will showcase each of our creative directions. I know this challenge will seem overwhelming but you can do it if you focus and push yourself.

Thursday will be Throwback day so that you can show off older pieces.

Drawings and concepts count so if there are times when you cannot get into your studio you can post ideas or drawings.
