How to keep your silver metal clay fresh for weeks
One thing that people sometimes worry about when using silver metal clay is how to keep it the clay fresh and usable . Fortunately, that is easy. Here are my top tips.
Here’s how to keep your silver clay fresh for weeks or even months
Wrap it up in some plastic. I like to reuse the plastic wrap that it comes in the packet of silver clay or you can use cling film/saran wrap. Wrap it up tightly, you want to make sure no air can get in
The next step is to get a baby wipe, it's great that we can get biodegradable wipes now, and wrap that plastic up in a wipe. That's a great way to keep your clay fresh for the day while you're working on it
If you’ve finished for the day and want to keep the clay fresh for when you next use it, I have a tip for you.
Keep it in a small tupperware pot (see photo above). I have put a sponge in the lid. This is a face sponge that I bought in Boots pharmacy and cut to fit the lid. I use some tap water to keep the sponge moist and then I can put my wrapped clay into the pot and close the lid. This ensures that the clay stays fresh for weeks
